The Dark Knight- PG-13
By Jonathan Goodsell
Christopher Nolan has created yet another work of art in this sequel to his 2005 hit Batman Begins. This film continues the journey of Batman, played by Christian Bale, as he continues to try to clean up the streets of Gotham City. With the help of Lt. Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman) and the new DA Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart), they fight to take down the mob in Gotham. However, the mob hires the help of a new terrorist to protect their money, The Joker (Heath Ledger). Batman and The Joker go head to head in the battle of the year over the city of Gotham; The Joker trying to bring it to it's knees and reveal the identity of the Batman, Batman trying to stop The Joker and bring down the mob.
I really enjoyed this movie. It's another solid and really well done film by Christopher Nolan. The acting was well done, especially by Heath Ledger who won an Academy Award for his job as The Joker. Christian Bale also once again excellently pulled off Bruce Wayne and Batman. This movie was definitely harder acting for Bale then the first one. The conflicted Bruce Wayne trying to figure out his role as the protector of Gotham was rather difficult, yet Bale did it excellently. The plot was a lot easier to follow than in Batman Begins. The thing I love the most about the Batman films is that they aren't as cliched as all the other superhero movies out there. Granted they are a lot darker and more intense then any of the others also. The whole movie was extremely enjoyable filled with plenty of epic action sequences with Batman. The only problem I had with the movie was how dark it was. The Joker is an extremely evil and often disturbing character.
This movie definitely earned its rating but mainly from the violence and menace caused by The Joker. The whole movie is extremely intense and filled with fist and gun fights. There was very little language to add to the films rating. This movie is definitely not for little kids as they would be frightened. Even some older people would find it disturbing.
As dark as it is, I still loved this film.It was excellently made, due to the marvelous direction of Christopher Nolan and the amazing job done by everyone on the cast. So in my reviewer opinion, The Dark Knight gets a well earned 8.5/10
